Introduction

Shaitaan is an Indian Hindi language film of 2024 based on mystery, black magic, and supernatural elements. Shaitaan film was directed by Vikas Bahl. Panorama Studios, Jio Studios, and Devgn Films take responsibility for producing the film. The film casts many Bollywood names including Ajay Devgan, Jyothika, Janki Bodiwala, and R. Madhavan.

Amit Trivedi composes the music for the film. Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti edits and does some cinematography. The story follows a disruption in the life of a normal family when they fall prey to a black magician who uses his powers against the family. The film’s mostly shooting happens in India and London. The Shaitaan film was released in theatres on 8 March 2024. The film earned 208 crores, making the film among the most successful movies of the year.

Plot and Summary

Shaitaan is a film based on mystery, magic, and supernaturism. The film follows the story of a family who goes on vacation at their remote farmhouse where they experience many supernatural elements that they never had experienced before. Kabir Rishi l, a charted accountant takes his wife, Jyoti, and two children Janhvi and Dhruv, to their farmhouse to enjoy their annual vacations.

There they meet Vanraj, a black magician, who gives Janhvi something to eat. After eating the stuff Janhvi seems to be under his complete control. He makes all of them his hostage by using Janhvi according to his desires. Vanraj creates a whole series of unfortunate events for the family in the later parts of the film. Janhvi does whatever he asks her to do, beating her brother, slapping her father, and abusing her mother. Finally, in the end, Kabir plans to get rid of the whole situation and succeeds when he perfectly executes his plan.

Casting

Casting is always important in the success of any film. Here in this movie, Ajay Devgan plays the role of Kabir Rishi, a charted accountant by profession and well-educated person who first doesn’t seem to believe in black magic later, he accepts as he suffers from it.

R. Madhavan appears as Vanraj Kashyap, a villain and magician who wants to sacrifice 100 girls to gain unlimited power. Jyothika, a famous Indian actress appears in the film and plays the role of Jyoti Rishi Kabir’s wife. She suffers watching her daughter suffer. Janki Bodiwala plays the character of Janhvi Rishi, Kabir and Jyoti’s daughter. who suffers from the hallucination process.

Release and Box office Collection

This film is a remake of the Vash, a Gujarati film. Its production was announced in May 2023. Shaitaan film was theatrically released in India on 8 March 2024. The film makes 176.18 crores from India only. It grosses 32.52 crores from overseas countries. Eventually making a total sum of 208.7 crores ( US$26 million ). The movie overall gets a positive response from the audience as it becomes the fourth-grossing movie of 2024 in India.

Ending

The film creates a vibe in the audience when the villain and black magic Vanraj, finally meets his fate of fatal destruction. It comes out that Janhvi wasn’t the only first girl under the vandal’s spell but there are hundreds more girls in the same situation of being hostages. Vanraj plans to sacrifice these girls to gain superhuman powers to rule the world and do unbelievable things.

But in the end, Kabir Rishi makes a plan to get rid of him and he successfully cuts his tongue. He uses a spell to take control of humans. He also uses his already recorded audio voice to free girls from his chanting and black magic including his daughter Janhvi. Eventually, police come on the spot to clarify things and Vanraj meets his deserving life of imprisonment.
