INTRODUCTION
Virupaksha is a Telugu-language horror thriller movie from 2023. Karthik Varma Dandu directs the movie along with Sukumar, who co-writes the film. The film’s production gets completed by B.V.S.N. Prasad and Sukumar through Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra. Its cast includes many Telugu stars, including Samyuktha, Sai Dharam Tej, Sunil, Brahmaji, Rajeev Kanakala, and Ravi Krishna.
On April 21, 2023, the movie finally gets into cinemas and earns a positive review from critics. Overall, the movie remains a commercial success at the box office in 2023. Shakib Khan has also shown a desire to remake it in the upcoming years. Krushna Hari writes the incredible dialogues of the movie, and the stunning cinematography by Shamdat Sainudeen. And also creates a powerful impact on the audience of the movie.
B. Ajaneesh Loknath composes its magnificent melodious music, and Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra gets the honor of being part of production companies. Navin Nooli plays his part after making the editing so adorable. However, the movie remains a super hit as it makes 105 crores in the box office. Virupaksha marks a new impact through the storyline, magnificent directions, and beautiful acting of the actors. All of which contribute unanimously to the overall success of the movie.
PLOT AND SUMMARY
Virupaksha movie is a story full of elements of horror, suspense, superstition, and mystery, all at its peak level. The Virupaksha movie follows the year 1979, when some characters. Including Rudravanam and Venkata Chalapathy, come under the accusation of using black art in the destruction of many people’s lives. They get ousted because of such an allegation.
A dying woman, supposedly because of their black magic, curses the family of their destruction within a period of a mere twelve years. Bhairava, the couple’s only son, gets separated. Finally takes shelter in an orphanage at the request of Sarpanch Harishchandra Prasad. The story now shifts to 1991, when Sudhaiah disappears after a crow continuously keeps mauling him.
Surya, along with his mother Anasuyamma, visited Rudravanam in her hometown to demand their part of the land for construction and permission to attend the annual village carnival. Nandini meets Surya, and it results in their love bond, but she hesitates to accept his proposal. Siddhaiah dies if an acute illness makes the whole village suspicious, ultimately resulting in consultation with the priest.
TWISTING MOMENTS
The priest suggests a complete lockdown in the village, not letting anything enter or leave the village in eight directions. This stops Surya for eight days in the village. A couple tries to elope from the village during these days, ultimately causing the tragic deaths of both lovers. Surya now becomes suspicious about the things happening around her and makes an investigation.
He observes how death happens. Sudhas’s corpse tells a different story of manipulative suicides happening in the village, which makes him find another suspect immediately. Nandini seems to be the next target of some curse that has been hanging over the village for many centuries. The priest approves of Nandini’s death to save the lives of the whole village. But Surya disagrees and keeps on finding the real Aghora of the whole curse.
And then the story goes deeper, many identities reveal themselves, among them Chalapathy as an Atharvana Veda practitioner who suffers from the villagers and suffered. Now she has been taking revenge on the villagers along with the help of her brother, Bhairava.
The story finally ends when she doesn’t make any impact on Surya and finally demands that he kill her to reduce the curse on the village. As she dies, Surya makes the whole village safe again, and Surya turns out to be a heroic savior of the village.
INTERVAL
The interval of the movie marks Surya staying in the village because of some lockdown by the priest. As the death toll and suicide rates in the village increase, tension and suspicion follow. Surya comes to the village to provide Nandini with some suitable medicine to prevent convulsions, but he gets under the policy of no movement for 8 days.
He remains there and observes the death scenes of characters including Kumar and Sudha, a happy lover. Who tries to elope from the village, violating the law of no movement until the eight required days of siege. Surya becomes curious, tries to investigate the whole situation, and meets an Aghora. Aghora warns to uplift the lockdown to prevent further increases in death tolls.
A milk supplier and Parvathi increase suspiciousness in his mind to further deeply analyze the secret curses or human involvement. This curiosity further leads him to another Aghora, who helps him find out the cave where the spell was cast. There, he uncovers some of Kumar’s belongings, which makes him think about Kumar’s involvement in the case.
Kumar’s been living in disguise to avenge the incident that took place so many decades ago. Now that Surya is more active and enthusiastic than before. He goes to the village hurriedly to stop further death tolls. He suspects Harishchandra Prasad of somehow being intimate with the murderer. Nandini’s sacrifices now seem essential to prevent the causes of many more deaths in the village. And Surya also seems to be convinced by them too.
ENDING
The ending of the story marks a happy ending and an absolute accomplishment by Surya in rescuing and achieving his mission of saving the lives of the lives of villagers. He stays in the village accidentally but later finds it his responsibility to react to this situation. The whole village seems to battle with it. horrifying murders, sudden vaporization, and the intense mishandling of dead bodies.
Virupaksha, a mystery, suspense, and thriller movie, presents a soothing and comfortable situation at the end of the movie. Finally, the whole mystery of the village’s death and disappearance resolves when Surya finds out the reality of the characters involved in this whole process. He asks Aghora, an expert mystic with a lot of supernatural knowledge, to help solve the issue.
Aghora resolves to help him and leads him to a cave where the actual spell is applied. Surya finds some belongings of Kumar, who was first believed to be dead, but later proved that he was alive. These belongings suggest Kumar’s involvement in the matter. In the village, it’s already known that the whole reason for this village curse is treatable with the help of Nandini Sacrifice.
In the end, the whole story is visible, and all the distracted parts of the puzzle finally collide, giving a clear view of all the scenery. All the unidentified characters now come to be realized in their true shape. Surya’s whole investigation leads him to find Nandini as the conspirator of the murders in the village.
Harischandra Prasad gets informed about it. And then finally Surya meets Nandini at the sacrifice spot, where she first tries to manipulate him but fails. But she now accepts all her actions, involving the deaths of many villagers. And tells about her source of motivation behind these incidents.
